Mi Band 2 Review : After 10 Months !!
Hey what’s going on guys I am Sarath here. I will be reviewing the mi band 2, which is not a new fitness tracker as it’s around 9-10 months old now. But this is one of the cheapest fitness tracker out there which does the job well. And still gives tough competition to other similar fitness trackers. So with that being said lets gets started.
Starting off with unboxing, it just came with a simple white box which almost all Xiaomi products come with, and when you open up you will find the tracker itself which has a OLED display at the front, a heart rate sensor at the back, which I will talk in a bit, and next up you have the wrist strap which is completely made up of rubber and its black in color and also it’s easily replaceable. And there is a charging cable which you have to plug into a wall socket or a powerbank to charge the band. So unboxing is not fancy and colorful, just a typical Xiaomi box just what you need.
The first thing you will feel right after you wear it in your wrist is, the band itself is really very lightweight and has a smooth rubberized feel to it. But sometimes the heart rate sensor which protrudes gives a slightly weird feeling when wear it for long time, but it’s a minor issue though.
Now talking about the display, it has an OLED display which is bright enough in indoors but kind of faded in out door. As it is almost invisible when exposed to sun, so that means you can’t check the time when you are outside. But keeping that a side, you have other cool features like, it was really convenient to use this band at night times, as you can check time during mid nights, it was really useful. But most convenient feature was the rise to wake. The display wakes up when you slightly move your wrist towards your face. It was really useful to check time without actually pressing down button . And also you can twist your wrist to actually view information on the band. I used this gesture almost all time, it works great.
Now, below the display there is a touch sensitive button. Which you have to touch to actually interact with the band. And the other cool feature of this tracker its IP67 Rating so you can easily take a shower with it. I dipped it in water, I swimmed with it, I had no problems it works fine.
Now getting into the main aspect of the fitness tracker about it’s tracking. It tracks your steps very accurately in my usage. And also there a MI FIT app which sync with your tracker which completely shows everything you need. It actually shows at which time duration I took a walk throughout the day and it also shows how much calorie did I burn. And also every 1 hour it kind of vibrates and motivates you to get up and walk when you are idle. Pretty cool right?
ANd one of my favourite feature which is exclusive only to Xiaomi phones is Unlocking the phone, You can unlock the phone without entering the passcode when you phone is near to your band. These features can be activated from the MI FIT app. The MI FIT app is available for both android and iOS. This app if control centre for the band. It has a tack of all your fitness activities like steps, sleeping and much more customizable features to make use of it.
And my feature was notificaticates and alerts. You can assign maximum of 5 apps for alerts which actually works pretty fine in my usage. And also I get incoming call and sms alert which comes in handy when your phone is far from you and you can check who is calling you. And also there is alarm alert which vibrates you in the morning to wake you up.
Talking about the vibration, the vibration was really good at first but after using it for a while now it kind of not that strong as it was at the start. But my favourite feature of this band is sleep tracking, which actually works accurately, you can view your sleep timing from when you sleep, when you wake, how much time you sleep deeply and much more which amazed me as it was totally accurate.
Now talking about the battery life, it has a 70mah battery inside which can give you around 15-20 days of battery in a single charge which totally depends on you. And also the charging time with the given dock was fast which takes about 1 and half minutes. I was totally satisfied with the battery life.
But one thing which I was disappointed was with the heart rate sensor. It has a heart rate sensor at the back, which is really not accurate. It blinks green light while you measure your heart rate but it was like hit or miss feature. But overall the band is really good and totally changed my mind towards cheap fitness trackers.
Finally the only biggest problem is to actually buy this one, which is really hard. As its out of stock most of the time in the official MI website and at amazon but you can get it with 200-300rs extra at ebay. So I
